Liverpool’s interest in Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain has been confirmed by his father.
Higuain linked up with Rafa Benitez’s side two years ago from Real Madrid for around £28million, and has scored 50 goals in 96 appearances.
However, the Argentina international has been tipped to join a new club if Napoli fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
But in another twist, his father is adamant that Higuain will stay put in southern Italy, despite confirming interest from the Reds.
As quoted on the Daily express website, his father said: “There are a lot of teams interested in Gonzalo.
“However, he has a three-year contract to run with Napoli. I do not think he will go anywhere.”
