Arsenal is set to make another move for Real Madrid attacker Karim Benzema if they fail to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez, this is according to Spanish outlet, Don Balon.
The Gunners are keen on keeping Sanchez, but know that they would be stupid to let the South American run down his current deal and leave for free next summer, and so they are making plans to cave in when the right offer comes.
PSG have renewed their interest in Sanchez and the Gunners would prefer to deal with the French giants instead of his preferred Manchester City.
Per the source, Arsene Wenger has identified his long term target, Karim Benzema as the ideal player to replace the Chilean. Benzema has been a Wenger target since he was at Olympique Lyon, but the Frenchman chose to move to Madrid rather than Arsenal. Having won almost everything a footballer wants to win, Wenger would be hoping the lure of a new challenge would see Benzema choose to join him in London.
Sanchez is still on holiday after getting an extended break due to his participation in the Confederations Cup this summer, but he has told journalists in his homeland that he wants to play Champions League football, it would be interesting to see if the Gunners will respect his wish.
