Reports coming from the media claim that Arsenal and Chelsea are set to battle it out for the signature of a 16 year old Uruguayan who could be the next Luis Suarez. Gustavo Viera is the third youngest player to ever star in the Copa Sudamericana, the South America equivalent of the UEFA Champions League. His recent performances are said to have impressed the scouts of Chelsea and Arsenal who were in attendance.
He plays for the Uruguayan side Liverpool as a striker and is said to have been playing with a maturity and understanding of the game that is beyond his age.
Viera’s heroes are Luis Suarez and Didier Drogba. Chelsea hope that they can persuade him with an opportunity of being mentored by his idol.
Arsenal are known for blooding young players and have been very happy with the contributions of their current group of South Americans, and want to add more.
Chelsea and Arsenal may be competing against themselves for the player’s signature, but they are not alone, and will face serious competition from Barcelona, Juventus and PSG, who have also been scouting the youngster.
