West Bromwich Albion are ready to go head-to-head with Liverpool and Arsenal in their bid to sign one of their transfer targets.
The Baggies boss Tony Pulis personally went on a scouting mission to Portugal, where he had to check on summer target, William Carvalho.
The Sporting Lisbon midfielder has been on the radar of several top English teams for some time now, and came very close to joining Arsenal two seasons ago.
Arsene Wenger is reportedly still keen on the Portuguese midfielder who has made over 30 appearances for his country’s national team and won the Euro 2016 tournament with them.
Carvalho has also been linked with a move to Liverpool for some time now. The midfielder has three years left on his current contract, and is currently rated at £30 million.
Tony Pulis admitted that he had to personally scout the player because of the amount of investment that is involved in the transfer.
West Brom’s record transfer fee stands at £13 million which they paid last summer to sign Nacer Chadli from Tottenham, however if they want to sign Carvalho, they would have to pay at least twice that amount.
