Arsenal and Liverpool stand a far better chance of landing one of their prime targets if Olympique Lyon do not qualify for the Champions League next season. The Gunners and the Reds have been after Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette all season, and just when they seem to have given up on their pursuit of the striker, the club’s president has given interested parties some hope.
Lacazette is one of the most reliable goal scorers in all of Europe, his goals have stopped Lyon from sinking further down the table of French football.
Liverpool may be full of goals, as several of their players have scored more than five goals this season, but they need a striker who can guarantee them 20 goals a season. That is why they want to sign Lacazette.
Arsenal risk losing their top scorer Alexis Sanchez this season, that has made it imperative for them get a new striker that can score the goals for them.
Arsenal and Liverpool can get their man, only if Besiktas does them a favour. Olympique Lyon face Besiktas in the next round of Europa League and the club’s president has said if they win the competition or qualify for the Champions League, they would not need to sell any of their stars, but if they do not, they would have to let some of their best players go.
Arsenal and Liverpool will be hoping that Besiktas dumps Lyon out of Europe this month.
