Tottenham will be disappointed that they have been joined in the race to sign Everton contract rebel, Ross Barkley after it emerged that most of the top five teams have entered the race to sign the England international.
Barkley is in the final year of his current contract with the Toffees, and has informed the club that he would not be signing a new deal with them this season, as he wants to play for a club participating in the Champions League.
Everton has promised him that if he stays they would play in the Champions League in the 2018/2019 season, and have made some stunning signings to back their promise up, but Barkley wants a move to a bigger club.
Tottenham were favourites to sign him all through the summer, and they had perfected plans to wait until when the transfer window is about to close to making a move, as his price would have reduced at that time, however, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United apparently have the same plans.
Everton currently wants £50 million for his signature, but all his suitors know that is too much for a player whose contract is set to expire after this season.
Arsene Wenger may act faster than their rivals as they look to sign a new attacking midfielder with the future of Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey unclear.
