Arsenal’s summer is getting busier as they look to sign new players as well as secure the future of the old ones. The Gunners have been linked with moves for several players this summer, but none has been signed up yet.
However, they are close to agreeing on a new deal with their star midfielder Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain. The England midfielder looked to be on his way out of the Premier League club this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
Liverpool was keen on adding Chamberlain to their team for next season after Jurgen Klopp told the Red’s hierarchy that Chamberlain is the type of player that he wants in his team. This interest has prompted the Gunners to want to keep him for a longer period of time.
Chamberlain is expected to sign a new deal worth around £100,000 per week, which would come as a major step by the Gunners towards keeping hold of their English players at the Emirates. Jack Wilshere, Calum Chambers and Kieran Gibbs are also approaching the end of their current deals, but it remains unclear if the Gunners will renew their deals.
