It was another embarrassing day to be a Gunners fan as Arsenal were knocked out of the FA Cup to Blackburn Rovers at the Emirates as fans looked on with disbelief and anger.
A second-half goal from boyhood Gunners fan Colin Kazim-Richards secured the victory – and handed Arsenal their first ever Cup exit to a lower-league team under Arsene Wenger.
Kazim-Richards’ goal came amid a dominant Arsenal performance, but the recalled Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gervinho were both guilty of wasting chances to put Arsenal into the last eight.
The majority of the 60,000-strong Emirates Stadium crowd booed at the full-time whistle, as fans vented their frustrations amid fears their long trophy drought will now continue. Only the Champions League now offers Arsenal a slim chance of winning their first piece of silverware since 2005. (The Metro)
All the stats prove that the Gunners were by far the better team, but they could break down the Championships side defence and they will now wonder how this season could get worse. But considering they have Bayern Munich in the Champions League in midweek, they have to get over this result as soon as possible.
