Arsenal have finally sat down with the representatives of their midfielder Jack Wilshere, to discuss a new contract. Wilshere appeared to have no future at the club, after they allowed his contract to reach the last 15 months, but are now ready to tie the player down to a new contract.

Wilshere has been on-loan at Bournemouth this season, and has impressed with the Cherries, even though he is yet to reach the heights that saw him once compared to Barcelona legend, Xavi.

He is said to need clarification on his role at the club before signing, as he does not want to end up being used as just a squad player.

Arsenal are planning a major overhaul of their playing squad and had earmarked a number of players who would have to leave the Emirates. They are yet to offer Kieran Gibbs and Alex Oxlaide-Chamberlain new deals, and are still struggling to tie down Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to longer contracts.

This would come as a welcome boost to Wenger who believes that Wilshere still has a bright future ahead of him.
