Arsenal and Chelsea are set to go head to head for the signature of Genoa attacking midfielder Diego Laxalt, according to the latest transfer gossip.
Both clubs are said to be very keen on the 23 year old following a string of good performances in Serie A this season.
The Uruguayan international has not exactly been prolific, contributing one goal and two assists so far this term, but his potential is undoubted and it was always expected that the big clubs would come calling.
Chelsea apparently see Laxalt as an ideal replacement for Oscar, who is expected to depart Stamford Bridge this winter.
For their part, Arsenal reportedly want Laxalt to bolster their attacking midfield options.
What this means is that you have two English Premier League clubs chasing after a young talented player and that can only be good news for Genoa, who are probably resigned to losing the lad, but would want a nice juicy fee and no one does that better than clubs from the Premier League.
