Arsenal identify striker to replace departing Alexis Sanchez
Reports from Spain are claiming that Arsenal are planning an ambitious bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema, should they lose Alexis Sanchez this summer.
Sanchez has refused to commit his future to the Gunners and it is believed that he has made up his mind to move away from North London. The Gunners will make another attempt to keep Sanchez in the summer, but if they fail to secure an agreement, they will auction the Chilean.
Meanwhile Benzema is unhappy at the Bernabeu after hearing that Real are looking at other striker targets, most prominently, Kylian Mbappe. The Frenchman has been able to keep his place in the club’s first eleven ahead of Alvaro Morata this season, but may lose it to another top striker next season.
Arsene Wenger tried to sign Benzema when he was at Lyon, but the hit man chose to join Madrid instead, Wenger believes it would be easier to land him now from Los Blancos. Benzema has score 179 goals in 356 games for Real Madrid.
