Reports from the media are claiming that Arsenal has identified Ross Barkley as a possible replacement for Mesut Ozil. The Gunners are expecting bids for their German midfielder who has refused to commit his long term future to the club.

Mesut Ozil has postponed talks of a new deal to the end of the season, but many believe that if the Gunners don’t qualify for the Champions league, he may not sign a new deal.

Whatever the case may be, Arsenal are preparing for the worst and Arsene Wenger believes that Ross Barkley would offer them close to what Ozil does if the German leaves.

Ross Barkley is refusing to sign a new deal at Everton, and has been warned by his manager that if he does not sign the new deal before the end of the season, he would be sold.

Arsenal are planning to keep most of their home grown talent at the club, but the trio of Kieran Gibbs, Alex Oxlaide Chamberlain, and Jack Wilshere have less than two years left on their current deals. It is believed that Wilshere and Chamberlain may not sign extensions if they are not guaranteed starting spots next season.

Wenger believes he can unlock the talent of Barkley and the fact that he is a homegrown player makes him more attractive to the Gunners.
