Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s reluctance to commit their long term future to Arsenal has had the Gunners planning for life afterwards.
Reports from Portugal claim Arsene Wenger is ready to swoop for Porto play maker Yacine Brahimi, as a replacement for Alexis Sanchez. The French born Algerian player has been compared to Sanchez by Arsenal’s scouts and they believe he can fill the void that the departure of the Chilean would leave in their team. Brahimi can play from middle and on the wings, this versatility has made Wenger believe he can thrive in the Premier League.
Sanchez is almost certainly on his way out after Wenger, admitted that they cannot pay him £300,000 per week as it could disrupt their dressing room.
The Gunners have also concluded plans to sign Schalke Youngster, Max Meyer. The young German is reportedly close to signing a deal with Liverpool, but the Gunners believe the player would prefer staying in London over Merseyside.
Meyer was valued at £45 Million last summer, but with his current deal expiring next summer, he is unlikely going to cost half that price and is seen as an ideal replacement for Ozil.
