Despite threats of losing their best players this summer, Arsenal have received a boost in the quest to add firepower to their current squad.
The Gunners have emerged as the preferred destination for former Premier League champion, Ryad Mahrez.
The Algerian has informed Leicester City that he wants to leave them this summer and is not short of suitors both home and abroad, but he wants to move to North London.
Arsenal was desperate to sign Mahrez last summer after he led Leicester City to the Premier League title, but he decided to remain at the King Power Stadium for one more year. He is now ready to move and sources close to the player are claiming that his first choice club is Arsenal.
The Gunners have turned their attention to other targets and with Mahrez failing to replicate his last season’s exploit this season, it is unclear if Wenger is still interested in signing the Algerian.
The Gunners also have an abundance of talent in their attacking midfield area, and Mahrez would face huge competition for a place if he moves to the Emirate Stadium this summer.
