Arsenal join Liverpool and Man City in race to sign Premier League star
Reports in the media are claiming that Arsenal have joined a host of other clubs that are interested in the signing of Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk.
Van Dijk is one of the most sought after players in England this summer. He has been in outstanding form, and reportedly almost joined Manchester City during the winter transfer window. Although a deal did not materialise that time, it is believed that Man City are still in the running for the defender.
But the Citizens now have a serious competitor in Arsenal, the Gunners are looking to replace a host of first team players this season, as they plan to get straight back into reckoning next season. Arsene Wenger believes that the acquisition of Van Dijk will clearly show how ambitious they are and may also help convince Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to sign new deals at the club.
Liverpool are also tracking Van Dijk and they are reportedly planning a swoop for him.
Van Dijk wants to remain in the Premier league, and would love to play in a team competing in the Champions League.
The Gunners may lose out on signing the player as it would be a little bit difficult for them to qualify for the Champions League next season, according to their present standings.
