Arsenal is set to swoop for Germany youth international, Max Meyer as they look to bolster their squad this summer.
The Gunners have been in the market for top talent, but have been able to make only one major signing all summer. While Wenger has put so much energy into the signing of Thomas Lemar, he is set to give up on signing the French winger as Monaco have refused to change their stance on his availability.
Wenger is now poised to channel that energy towards Meyer.
Meyer has captained the Germany Under 21 side, has been a target of several top European sides this summer, and the midfielder is refusing to commit his future to Schalke.
According to Meyer, he is not trying to force through a move from Schalke, but the idea of moving to a top European side, is a good one and he is open to that possibility.
Arsenal is joining Liverpool and Tottenham in the race to sign Meyer.
Jurgen Klopp had earmarked Meyer and Julian Brandt as the German talents he wants to join him at Anfield, while Pochettino has made no secret his intention to build an exciting team around Europe’s exciting youngsters.
