Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool are all in the race to sign Schalke midfielder Maximillian Meyer this summer who will be available on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old has already amassed a wealth of experience, he has played for the national team at every level from the U15 right through to the senior side and also played in the Olympics, he has made in excess of 190 appearances for his club and is widely regarded as a top-class midfielder.
Bayern Munich is obviously interested in the youngster, they are always on the lookout for top quality German players whenever they become available, however, the field of interested parties is reducing.
Barcelona was looking at signing Meyer but have since dropped out and this has, of course, boosted the hopes of the Premier League trio.
Arsenal are considered the frontrunners because of their problems in the centre of the park, they have both Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere in contract negotiations but the talks appear to be getting nowhere and the possibility of one or both players departing the Emirates this summer must be high.
Despite being in pole position Arsenal are far from certain at winning the race to sign Meyer, they have to make the Champions League, if they do not that will hand the advantage to either Liverpool and Tottenham.
