Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne has been contacted by Arsenal over a possible summer move to the Emirates. Insigne has been on the shortlist of Liverpool for a long time, and the Reds are said to be preparing an offer for him this summer.
However, their offer may come too late after it emerged that Arsenal made contact with player’s representatives last week.
Insigne is a local lad, and many fans believe he would become a legend for the Naples side one day. He is currently negotiating an extension to his current deal, and the Gunners wanted to take advantage of the fact that the player’s representatives and the club have not been able to reach an agreement.
According to Italian sources, Napoli are ready to offer him a deal in the region of £3.5 Million per season for him to stay.
Arsenal want Insigne to be the first of several marquee signings that they would make this summer. They are planning for life without Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez as both player’s future remain major doubts.
It is believed that Napoli will do whatever it takes to keep hold of him at the moment, but the player has not made a final decision on his future.
