Arsenal make contact with possible Arsene Wenger replacement
Reports coming from Spain indicates that Arsenal have made contact with one of the most sought after managers in Spain, about the possibility of replacing Arsene Wenger.
Despite conflicting reports that the Gunners are willing to renew Wenger’s contract and would like him to pick his successor, it is believing the search for his replacement is on-going in a low key manner.
Spanish publication Marca claims that Arsenal have made contact with Athletic club’s Ernesto Valverde. The manager’s contract expires at the end of this season, and has also been linked with the soon to be vacant managerial position at Barcelona.
Arsenal’s shocking 3-0 loss to Crystal Palace last night has made Wenger’s future at the Emirates very doubtful. He has a few games to save his skin, and it is believed that if he does not qualify for the Champions league next season, then he would not be offered a new deal.
53 Year old Valverde is highly regarded in Spain after he guided Athletic to a 4-0 win over Barcelona in the Spanish Super Cup.
