Arsenal is close to agreeing on a new deal with one of their contract rebels before the new season kicks off.
The Gunners have been struggling to agree to a new deal with Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil all summer, but apparently, they might get Ozil to commit sooner rather than later.
Sun Sport is claiming that the German midfielder is preparing to accept the Gunners’ offer of £225,000 per week. Ozil’s representatives have been looking for a new club for him this summer, but there are no teams willing to pay him £200,000 or more, and they have accepted that he is better off economically if he remains with the Gunners.
The Gunners will now turn their attention to Sanchez.
Ozil missed the Community Shield victory through injury, but he is set to star for the Gunners when they kick start their Premier League Challenge this Friday.
Sanchez might also decide to stay after Ozil’s decision to remain a Gunner. Interest in the Chilean has died off recently with many of his suitors having closed their transfer business already. The Gunners will try again to convince him that remaining with them would be best for him.
