Arsenal’s pursuit of AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar may not be successful as the French champions close shop for the summer.
Monaco has allowed Bernardo Silva join Manchester City, and are likely to sell left back Benjamin Mendy to City as well as Tiemoue Bakayoko to Chelsea. But those two may just be the only players that would be allowed to leave before the end of the transfer window. That means that Arsenal faces a major hurdle in the quest to sign young winger, Lemar.
The Gunners have been in talks with the Municipal team for a long time now and have seen bids of £35 million and £40 million turned down by Monaco. These bids were made despite Monaco’s insistence that they would not sell Lemar this summer.
Arsene Wenger is still desperate to complete the signing and believes that Lemar wants to join them.
Lemar has reportedly told the club unofficially that he wants to join Arsenal after the Gunners told him they would pay him about £90,000 per week. Instead of granting his wish to move, Monaco is said to have offered him a new and improved deal.
