Arsenal has reportedly pulled ahead of other teams, including Tottenham, who are interested in signing Nice star Jean Michael Seri.
The Ivorian had an outstanding campaign last season, and the Gunners alongside Tottenham were impressed by his contribution to Nice’ season which helped them qualify for the Champions League.
Seri scored 7 goals and provided 9 more for team mates in 36 league appearances as his Mario Balotelli inspired team took out Olympique Lyon to finish inside the top four in France.
The Ivorian was signed for less than £1 million in the summer of 2015, and he is not keen to leave the French side. He has indicated that the only reason he would leave Nice would be if a bigger team that guarantees him minutes on the field of play arrives.
Arsene Wenger has an abundance of talent in his midfield ranging from Granit Xhaka, to Aaron Ramsey, but with the Gunners struggling tie Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to a new deal, and Jack Wilshere declared surplus to requirement, Seri might be offered an opportunity to stake a claim for a first team jersey at the Emirates.
