According to reports from online media, Arsenal is set to finalise the signing of their long-term target. Per the source, the Gunners have agreed on a deal with Olympique Lyon for the transfer of Alexandre Lacazette.
Lacazette is one of the most prolific attackers in Europe and has scored at least 20 goals each in the past three seasons.
He was strongly linked with a move to Atletico Madrid, and the player was reportedly keen to move to the Spanish capital, but the move failed after Atletico’s transfer ban was upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sports.
Arsene Wenger has been holidaying in France, and while many thought he was actively pursuing a deal for Kylian Mbappe, the French manager was discussing the transfer of Lacazette.
The two clubs were far from agreeing on a deal a few days back after Lyon told the Gunners that they would only allow him to leave for a fee in the region of £59 million. However, there has been a breakthrough as the former French champions agreed to sell for £43 million which is a transfer record for both Arsenal and Lyon.
The Gunners would announce his signing within the next 48 hours, and this could pave the way for the sale of either Alexis Sanchez or Olivier Giroud.
