Manchester City is very confident that they can sign Arsenal attacker Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean who is currently starring for his country at the Confederations Cup has refused to sign an extension to his current Arsenal deal after demanding a salary of around £300,000 per week.
This demand is said to be an indication that he is frustrated by a lack of progress being made since he joined the Gunners, and this season’s failure to qualify for the UEFA Champions League has made it hard for him to commit his future to the Gunners.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Bayern Munich are also in the race for his signature, but Pep Guardiola is confident of adding the Chilean to his team next season.
Arsenal is not ready to allow Sanchez to join any of their Premier League rivals, but Manchester City believes an offer of £50 million would be hard to turn down for an attacker who could leave for nothing after next season.
Sanchez scored and assisted over 30 goals for Arsenal last season, and Guardiola believes that he would be a signing a top class player of Premier League quality if he joins him at the Etihad.
