Arsenal is set to experience another transfer setback after Inter Milan moved ahead of them in the race to sign Nice defender Dalbert.
The 23 years old Brazilian was in fine form for the French side last season and attracted the interest of several top European sides including Tottenham. He has asked to leave Nice this season and looks set for a switch to Italy.
Inter Milan are reportedly close to agreeing on a switch in the region of 17 million plus add-ons for his signature, beating Arsenal in the process.
Dalbert helped Nice qualify for the Champions League last season but wants to play for a top side like Inter Milan or Arsenal even though they are both not in Europe’s top competition this season.
Arsene Wenger would be unhappy to lose another player who plays in the French league after missing out on AS Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
Missing out on Dalbert could see Wenger turn his attention to Southampton’s Virgil Van Dijk, despite the tough competition for his signature.
