It has emerged that Arsenal are lining up a move to try and prise Victor Valdes to the Emirates in the summer, as boss Arsene Wenger looks to add a world-class topper to the squad.
Wenger has looked at a number of goalkeepers over the past six months, but has been alerted by Valdes’ decision not to sign a new contract with the Spanish giants.
Long-term Arsenal target Pepe Reina could replace Valdes at Barca, while Manchester United are expected to win the race to sign Stoke’s Asmir Begovic.
But with Valdes’ deal due to expire next year, the North London club should comfortably be able to afford the 31-year-old. (Sunday Mirror)
The Spanish goalkeeper is rated as one of the best in the business and it would be a massive coup if the Gunners managed to snap him up. But the stumbling block could be his wages, as he would demand a massive amount of money.
