Leicester City winger, Ryad Mahrez is set to leave the former Premier League champions this season but is no longer interested in waiting for Barcelona.
The Algerian favours a move to the European giants, but they have other players on their radar right now. The Blaugrana’s were keen on Mahrez last summer, but the Algerian instead decided to remain at the King Power Stadium for another year. Barcelona has now prioritised the signing of Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin and PSG’s Marco Verratti.
According to sources, Mahrez is now ready to accept Arsenal’s offer as he hopes to play in a bigger club next season. The Gunners are willing to offer him a 4-year deal, as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
Mahrez had an underwhelming year this season, as Leicester City failed to replicate the performance that saw them stun the world and win the Premier League the previous season.
Arsenal is currently trying to complete a deal for Olympique Lyon’s attacker Alexandre Lacazette and would receive news of Mahrez decision to join them well ahead of a summer that could see them lose some of their attacking talents.
