Arsenal is set to enter full gear in their effort to overhaul their failing squad this summer. The Gunners who failed to qualify for the Champions League last season are likely going to miss out on a huge payday and may lose star man Alexis Sanchez. This has prompted the board to ask Arsene Wenger to overhaul his squad.
According to Mirror Sport, Arsenal has told England international, Jack Wilshere that he is free to leave the Emirates as they consider an approach from Sampdoria.
Wilshere has had to endure an injury ravaged career that has seen him lose his place in the Gunners lineup as well as the England national team. He spent last season on loan at Bournemouth and showed some glimpses of what he can do, but his time was cut short by an injury he sustained following a tackle from Harry Kane.
Wilshere could not travel with the rest of the Gunners squad for preseason and has now been declared surplus to requirements.
The Gunners would have a hard time getting buyers for the 25 years old, as Sampdoria remain the only team to have made an approach. Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe remains a fan, but Wilshere’s wage may be a stumbling block, except he is willing to take a pay cut to resurrect his career.
