German side Schalke is reportedly very close to signing Arsenal target Amine Harit.
The Gunners had been tracking the Nantes youngster for some time, however, it appears that the Germans have stolen a march on the North Londoners and will be completing a deal just short of £9 Million for the 20-year-old.
Apparently, Schalke and Nantes have already agreed a fee of £8.75m and all that is left to do is for the Bundesliga side to agree on personal terms with Harit.
Nantes is said to have been reluctant to sell the youngster and even at this late stage are hopeful that they can persuade him to stay in France, but that looks like a forlorn hope.
It is a little surprising that the player has chosen Schalke over Arsenal, though it may well be that the Gunners were slow in following up on their interest, which is not exactly new where Arsenal are concerned.
