Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has given Liverpool a major boost in their quest to sign him this summer.
The midfielder starred for the Gunners in Sunday’s Community Shield game against Chelsea and scored from the spot in the penalty shootout, but then he liked a post linking him with £25 million move to Anfield afterwards.
Liverpool has been pursuing a deal for the Ox all summer, but have not made any official offer yet. However, after Adam Lallana was ruled out for the next three months this week, it appears as though the Reds have turned their attention back to the England man, and the Ox may be happy to join Jurgen Klopp.
The England midfielder has just 12 months left on his current deal with the Gunners and has rejected a contract offer from them already this summer.
Chamberlain is concerned about his chances of featuring regularly for the Gunners and wants to be played in his preferred central midfield position. A lack of Champions League football may also be a reason why he wants to swap the Emirates for Anfield. However, it would still be hard for him to get a first team shirt at Liverpool as Klopp has an abundance of talent currently vying for a midfield place in his starting lineup.
