Arsenal’s hopes of keeping their best players have been boosted significantly as one of their contract rebels has now decided to remain with them and sign a new deal after the preseason.
The Club has been locked down in negotiations with the representatives of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil as they look to keep both stars who have just over 12 months left on their current deals beyond this season.
While Sanchez appears to be on his way out of the Emirates, Mesut Ozil has made a surprise U-turn and would sign a new deal with the Gunners after preseason.
Speaking from the club’s preseason camp, the German reiterated his desires to remain with the Gunners. According to him, his preference is to remain a Gunner, and he hopes the club and his representatives would reach an agreement soon. Ozil’s camp has been demanding £350,000 per week from the Gunners, but with his recent comments, the Gunners believe he would sign the £250,000 per week they are willing to offer him.
Ozil has not spoken to Sanchez about his decision yet, but the Gunners hope that his decision will influence the Chilean to also sign a new deal.
