Arsenal’s continued delay in wrapping up a deal for long term target Ryad Mahrez may see them lose out on signing the Algerian trickster.
The Gunners have been actively trying to sign Mahrez for the past two transfer windows, but have met limited success, as Leicester City continue to value the player above the what the Gunners feel is his real value.
The former Premier League champions have set a £40 million price tag on his head, but the Gunners think he is worth £10 million less. This distance between perceived value has seen the Gunners’ pursuit stalled.
However, Arsenal’s delay may see them lose the Algerian as Talksport is reporting that AS Roma has entered the race for his signature as they look to sign a new winger after selling Mohammed Salah to Liverpool.
AS Roma have reportedly met with Mahrez’s representatives to discuss personal terms ahead of making an official bid for him. This might not come as good news to Arsene Wenger who knows that a lack of Champions League football from them might see Mahrez choose to join Roma who finished second in the Serie A last season.
