Despite Arsenal’s delay in pursuing a deal for Leicester City winger Ryadh Mahrez, it appears as though the Algerian would still prefer to wait for a late approach from them rather than join Italian giants, AS Roma.
Roma has reached out to the winger’s representatives in recent days, as they look to bring him to Rome as a replacement for Liverpool new man, Mohammed Salah.
Mahrez was in sensational form for Leicester City during the 2015/2016 season as they stormed to the Premier League title, winning the PFA player of the year for that season. However, he had an underwhelming season the next season as Leicester City almost suffered relegation despite reaching the quarter final of the Champions League.
This performance saw the interest from Barcelona and Arsenal cool off, although the Gunners still want him but only as a backup option to their current top target, Thomas Lemar.
AS Roma are ready to make an opening bid in the region of £30 million which is £10 million short of what Leicester City value the Algerian.
