Former FC Groningen coach Pieter Huistra says Celtic defender and Arsenal target Virgil van Dijk can make it in England.
The Dutchman has been linked with Arsenal in recent weeks, as he seeks to step up in the game.
Huistra, who worked with Van Dijk at Groningen, said on the TMW website “I know Virgil loves Celtic and is happy in Glasgow. But if a club with ambition goes for him, it is difficult to say ‘no’.
“He’s a smart guy, who is not driven by big money, even though that’s a bonus. He regards his career always the most important.
“Now he’s at a point where he must advance, but he’s the only one who can make such a decision. It is logical that Virgil looks for a big club in a big league. That’s the next step for him.”
