Arsenal have been handed a boost in their bid to sign £50million-rated Liverpool star Raheem Sterling, according to the Metro website.
The little winger has been linked with a move to the Emirates for the last few weeks, as there has been talk that he wants to leave Anfield in the summer.
The Gunners had been willing to fork out the £50m fee but Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has said that the England international will not move this summer even if he does not sign a new contract.
That means Arsene Wenger could get his man on a free transfer after it was revealed he could run his contract down.
He said: ‘We’ve made our position clear from the beginning and the owners are very much supportive of that.
‘Raheem won’t be going anywhere this summer, even if there’s not a deal agreed.’
