After agreeing on a deal to remain Arsenal’s boss for the next two seasons, Arsene Wenger has begun plans to sign his summer targets quickly.
The Frenchman who is famous for making moves very late in the transfer market is believed to have been informed by the club’s board that he needs to add some urgency when dealing with transfers as the club has lost some key targets in the past due to his reluctance.
He seems to have taken that advice to heart as he edges closer to sealing a deal for Leicester City’s Ryad Mahrez.
The Algerian was a major target for the Gunners last season after helping the unfancied Leicester win the Premier League the previous season. He has submitted a written transfer request to city and Arsene Wenger wants to move quickly in signing him to avoid any tug-of-war that may arise when the player’s other suitors get serious about signing him.
Leicester City has slapped a 40 million price tag on the Algerian that they bought for less than 500,000 pounds four seasons ago.
Arsene Wenger is also hoping to convince contract rebels, Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to extend their contract with the Gunners beyond this season.
