Arsenal will have to up their offer if they want to sign prolific hit man

Arsenal’s bid to sign Olympique Lyon’s attacker Alexandre Lacazette has suffered a major setback after Lyon asked the Gunners to up their offer.

The Gunners are looking to sign him for £44 million, but Lyon considers that sum too poor and is holding out for a deal in the region of £57 million. This situation is said to have thrown the deal into a major doubt.

Arsenal are not Lacazette’s preferred destination, Atletico Madrid is, but he could not join the Spaniards because their transfer ban was upheld, it now looks like he will wait until the winter transfer window to join the Diego Simeone led side.

This possibility is made more apparent by Lyon’s president’s assertion that Lacazette may not move this summer. Jean-Michel Aulas has told reporters that the player may stay beyond, this summer when reacting to transfer news regarding the club.

Lyon is also interested in signing Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud, but face a major competition from West Ham. The Hammers are reportedly ready to pay Arsenal’s asking price of £20 million as well as meeting the player’s wage demand which may be more than his current £120,000 per week.
