Arsenal manager has been left sweating on the fitness of defenders Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker after injuries to both players have kept them out of recent Premier League and international matches, and to his relief both players have been reportedly given the all clear for returning to action this weekend as Arsenal face Stoke City in a game that they really have to step up the pace for if they are to push and regain the gap already starting to open at the top.

Mertesacker has missed the past two clubs games with a virus while Koscielny sat out France’s friendly match against Serbia on Monday as a precaution. Both players are back training and expected to play on Saturday.

With both players back, that should prove a welcome sense of relief for Arsene with the history in recent years between Stoke City and the Gunners, and will be a game that you can guarantee Stoke wanting to go all out to win, whereas Arsenal need to go out and win and gain the points they have lost so far this season and to show the fans that they are not missing a world class forward that was ignored during the summer.
