Not allowing Alexis Sanchez to join Manchester City this summer is a sacrifice worth £70 million according to Arsene Wenger.
The French man has failed to convince the Chilean to sign an extension at the Emirates, and their failure to allow him to join City is set to cost them more as he would leave them for free next summer.
Sanchez came very close to signing for City last week after the Gunners received a £60 million bid for the attacker, but Arsenal’s failure to land Thomas Lemar despite having a £92 million bid accepted for the winger saw them decide against selling Sanchez.
This development angered both Sanchez who was ready to sign for Manchester City with the team’s official present with him in Chile and the Citizens.
Sanchez’s departure is sure to leave a huge gap in the Gunners attack and Wenger believes spending £70 million would pay for that sacrifice.
If he plans to sign one player or a set of players with that amount is still not clear at the moment.
But one thing for sure is £70 million will not sign a player of Sanchez’s quality in the current transfer market.
