As the transfer activities continue to gather steam for some teams with major signings being announced daily, Arsenal is looking to keep hold of their best players.
The Gunners finished outside the top four for the first time in 20 years and will not play in the Champions League next season. This has made it difficult for them to attract big-name stars, but they are desperate not to allow that disappointment see them lose their stars.
One such player is Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman was reduced to bit-part roles for the Gunners last season, as Wenger preferred to play Alexis Sanchez as his centre-forward. However, the French man still managed to score more than 10 Premier League goals.
Giroud has also recently voiced his disappointment at not starting many games for the Londoners last season and wants that to change.
Reacting to reports that an unhappy Giroud may leave the Gunners this summer, Wenger was quick to point out that Giroud was still a major part of his plans for next season. He praised the attacker’s qualities and appreciated his contributions last season.
The Gunners are still looking for reinforcements in their attack this season, and the arrival of another striker may yet signal the end for Giroud.
