Arsene Wenger is unfazed by the possibility of losing some of his best players for free after this summer, and insists, it was ideal.
According to the Frenchman, as the transfer fees continue to skyrocket, players will continue to prefer running down their contracts so that they can move for free or at a fee lower than their inflated value.
This comes after he was quizzed about the future of some of his players who are entering the final year of the contracts and may not renew them.
Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, Aaron Ramsey, and Santi Cazorla are all in the final year of their current deals and none have signed a new deal yet. They are all worth over £100 million in combined value, yet Arsene Wenger believes if they all leave for nothing it won’t be strange.
The Gunner’s boss is hopeful the players with just 12 months left on their contracts would sign new deals, however, if they refused he is adamant that they would not be sold, particularly to a rival club no matter what.
