Arsenal’s bid to bring in one of the most exciting players from Norway in recent times has suffered a huge blow after it emerged that French Champions AS Monaco and Spanish team Sevilla have joined the race for his signature.
The Gunners, who are known for developing some of Europe’s best players, have been watching Sander Berge since he moved to Belgium in January.
Arsene Wenger was interested in signing him before he joined the Belgian side, but the 19-year-old decided it was too early to move to a high-profile league like the Premier League as opportunities for him to develop would be limited.
Berge’s performance over the past six months has attracted the interest of several suitors, and the Norwegian could move this summer.
Genk has previously indicated that they are not willing to let him go just yet, however, a fee in the region of 18 million would be hard for the Belgians to turn down.
Arsene Wenger loves nothing more than adding players that he can develop as future first teamers.
