Chelsea’s transfer plans are being threatened by Diego Costa’s preference of a move away from the Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian-born Spain international has once again told reporters that the only club he would move to if he left the Blues is his former team, Atletico Madrid. He went on to slam the door on a move to China claiming that such a move would kill his dream of playing in next summer’s FIFA World Cup.
This stance has made it a little bit complicated for the Blues who were hoping to sell him to China for around £70 million. To complicate issues more, Atletico Madrid has expressed the willingness to take back the attacker, but would not pay more than £25 million for his service, just two years after they sold him to the Blues for £35 million.
Chelsea is hoping to add more players to their squad with a forward line led by Romelo Lukaku and Alex Sanchez being mooted for next season. But if they fail to offload Costa to the Chinese league or for a higher sum, it might be very hard for them to sign all their major targets.
