Arsenal has encountered major competition in the race to sign Nice midfielder, Jean Michael Seri.
The Gunners have been looking to sign the Ivorian all through this summer, but Wenger put the deal on the hold while trying to secure a move for Thomas Lemar. However, the midfielder may no longer be in the market when they are ready to make a move for him.
Reports in Spain are claiming that Barcelona has joined the list of teams interested in signing Seri.
The Catalans have enough cash to spend after selling Neymar to PSG for £198 million.
They have previously targeted Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, and PSG’s Marco Verratti to replace the ageing Andres Iniesta. However, they have failed to prise those players away from their respective teams, this has seen them turn to Seri.
Seri was instrumental for Nice last season as they finished inside the top three of French football and qualify for the Champions League.
He has previously stated that he would only leave Nice for a team where he is guaranteed minutes, however, he would find it hard to resist a team like Barcelona.
Nice are reluctant to sell, and they have informed suitors that they would need to trigger his release clause of £36 million for him to leave them.
