After failing to get Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, Barcelona has turned their attention to Tottenham’s Dele Alli.
The Catalans have had to sell Neymar to PSG for a world record £198 million last week Thursday as the Brazilian bought himself out of his contract with them.
Prior to that transfer, Barcelona had been looking to sign a new midfielder as a replacement for the ageing Andres Iniesta, and had Coutinho as their top target. However, the reluctance of Liverpool to sell has caused them to turn towards Tottenham.
Alli is one of the most underpaid stars in the Premier League compared to other top performers as Spurs have a strict wage structure that they don’t want to break anytime soon.
Alli is not keen on leaving Tottenham, but he may find it hard to resist lining up with some of the world’s best players, and earning a significantly higher wage.
Tottenham have failed to sign any players this summer, and reports claim most of their stars are afraid they might not keep up with the momentum they created over the past two seasons.
Alli would likely cost more than £100 million after he was rated the most valuable under 21 player in Europe’s top five leagues this summer.
