Reports in today’s English press are claiming that Chelsea believes that they will sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain from Arsenal.
According to Standard Sport talks have taken place between the London rivals and that while no agreement has yet been reached confidence is high at Stamford Bridge that a deal will happen.
Oxlade-Chamberlain is in the final year of his contract and unlike Alexis Sanchez and Olivier Giroud, no assurances have been given to the England international over his future at the Emirates.
The 23-year-old is clearly not a first choice for Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, a position that Oxlade-Chamberlain is fully aware of a parting of ways looks very likely before the close of the transfer window.
Liverpool has also been linked with a move for the former Southampton star but for whatever reason, there has been little movement from the Reds, which has opened up the door for Chelsea to make their move.
The only issue for Oxlade-Chamberlain is that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte would be unlikely to play him in his preferred central role and instead use him as a right wing back, a position he is not keen on.
