Chelsea and Liverpool are locked in a battle to sign one of Europe’s most lethal attackers. The Premier League duo is looking to make attacking signings this summer ahead of a busy season with Champions League football.
According to Sun Sport, the two English clubs are interested in the highly rated Pierre Emerick Aubameyang. The Gabonese forward has informed his team that he would like to leave them this summer, and the club has placed a £65 million valuation on him.
Liverpool appears to be in pole position for his signature as their manager has enjoyed a previous relationship with both his club and the player. The Reds are looking to add a 20 goals-a-season attacker to their team, and Aubameyang fits that criteria after plundering 41 goals last season, winning the Bundesliga’s top scorer award.
Antonio Conte is keen on signing Aubameyang despite the ongoing negotiations with Real Madrid over the signing of Alvaro Morata. The Italian believes Diego Costa cannot be replaced by just the one attacker and wants the combination of Morata and Aubameyang.
However, he has been told by the club that he can only have both attackers if they successfully offload Costa.
