Chelsea is set to sell Diego Costa to Atletico Madrid before the close of this transfer window.
The Brazil born Spain international has refused to return to first team training this season after being informed via text message that he is no longer needed at Chelsea by Antonio Conte.
Talks had been very slow all summer after he made it clear that he wanted to only play for Atletico Madrid and the Spaniards were looking to take advantage and sign him for a very low fee.
Chelsea has been demanding £50 million, but Atletico has been offering only £26 million for the player they sold for £35 million two seasons back. However, the deal is set to be completed after both clubs agreed to a fee of £41 million.
Costa has been targeted by Everton, AC Milan, AS Monaco and Marseille and could be sent on loan to any of these teams until January when he can be registered as an Atletico Madrid player.
This would put an end to one of the longest transfer sagas of the summer and the Blues will look to reinvest that money on some new recruits before the windows shuts on Thursday.
