Diego Costa could still make a shocking return to the Chelsea first team this season as the Blues and his former club Atletico Madrid fail to agree on a deal.
The Brazil born Spanish attacker has been axed from the Chelsea line up this season, and the issue has escalated to the point where he has refused to return to the London club. However, He wants to join only Atletico Madrid but the Spaniards have been frustrated by Chelsea’s refusal to allow him to leave on a cut price deal.
According to Atleti’s president via Talksport, they are not close to completing the transfer of Costa and they would look to continue negotiations when the transfer window reopens in January, which would also signal the end of their transfer ban.
Costa has not been paid since he was asked to return to Stamford Bridge and the club has no plans to pay him for as long as he is away from their facility. However, the attacker has claimed he would be forced to train with the reserves if he were to return to the Premier League champions and he is not interested in doing that.
With many of his team mates urging him to return, it appears as though Costa would change his mind and return to Stamford Bridge particularly as this is a world cup year.
