Chelsea boss to meet £22 million clause and fend off interest in talented target

There has been some reports which have claimed Chelsea are keen to meet Schalke stars Max Meyer’s clause this summer, but will face a battle from Borussia Dortmund.

The Schalke star has been the subject of interest from the English clubs but insisted he was keen to stay at the Bundesliga club with teammate Julian Draxler, a target Arsenal missed out on during the transfer window.

Reports have claimed that Meyer had the release clause put into his contract, which runs until 2018, when his English suitors came calling last year.

And Chelsea were set to meet his clause, as they looked to add the best young talents to their squad.

However, the SportsDirectNews website claim Dortmund are in the market for new signings in that position as they face the possible departure of key playmaker Marco Reus this summer, with the 24-year-old being linked with a move to Barcelona.
